I met Maria at the Family Center and had the privilege of having her with us during two very special moments: as the photographer for my newborn’s photoshoot and as my doula. In both roles, she was absolutely amazing, providing invaluable support to me and my family. My postpartum period was particularly challenging. After a second C-section, I found myself caring for a newborn and a 1-year-and-8-month-old toddler. Having Maria as my doula during this time made all the difference. Despite the language barrier — as English is not my first language — and my older daughter initially being a bit shy, Maria handled everything with incredible sensitivity and professionalism. Maria was so professional and tender at the birth of my son. It’s been such an incredible journey with her, capturing some key points in his first year of life, and maintaining a relationship over the past 4 years now. Maria’s photos from our labor journey are incredible. They are so authentic and capture every moment- the hard, the easy, the joyful, the exhaustion.
Maria herself was awesome. She communicated well, was prompt in responses and I never was worried she would miss an important moment.
I was nervous it might feel intrusive having someone in the delivery room, but it never felt that way. My husband and I were still able to have private moments —which Maria subtly captured, and felt like we had solid family time once our little one arrived.
The photos are STUNNING. She was wonderful and patient with our newborn and our toddler while getting the 1-week old photos.
